One of the first things you discover when you put an inspirational website online, is that a lot of people will write to you. Many of the letters I receive are complimentary, praising the website and its content. Some are more specific, mentioning a section of the site or a poem the writer especially likes. Still others are intensely raw and personal from people who feel comfortable enough to confide and share their private thoughts and feelings. Mail is always welcome. I feel fortunate that there are so many interesting individuals who not only visit Inspiration for the Spirit, but also take the time to write.
Peace and Love always,
Patricia
Hello, Firstly may I say I am very impressed with your site and being a lover of Native American traditions and ways of life I felt you were the right person to contact as I am trying to find a honest account of the story of the White Buffalo Calf Woman.
As being a medium and healer for over 40 years during the last several months during my meditations I have been taken to the Native American lands by my guide Standing Bear where he showed me the white buffalo in a translucent white cloud and then he showed me the calf woman and she said to me they are here to teach me peace, harmony, healing, and compassion to all those who come to me/spirit for healing.
So please could you recommend a book on the White Buffalo Calf Woman that in your opinion is true to factual as I have looked online but none seem to jump out at me so to speak.
Thank you for writing. Since the story about White Buffalo Calf Woman has been passed on by generations of the Lakota people, anything and everything written by a member of the Lakota is worth reading.
My source for information on White Buffalo Calf Woman was the book, The Sacred Pipe: Black Elk’s Account of the Seven Rites of the Oglala Sioux, recorded and edited by Joseph Epes Brown. The book starts with the story of White Buffalo Calf Woman’s first visit with the Lakota people. There are a lot of other books available. But the truth is, no matter who tells it, the story is always the same. Black Elk’s version was recorded years ago and is, in my opinion, as honest an account as you will find anywhere.
You can DOWNLOAD a copy here.
Peace and blessings.
Hi Dennis,
Saw your site and wondered if you are one of my cousins.
Was your father’s name Henry and did you live in Walton Hills, Ohio?
Let me know.
Dennis is my brother, and the short answer is “yes.”
Greetings, Hope this finds you well. Your website came by divine intervention. Your loving heart that fills your site with such compassion has influenced many I am sure. I am 77 living in the forests of the Ozarks, tending the garden, watching white clouds surrendering to the wind beneath a limitless sky of blue. I will say a prayer for your good health when I finish this letter. May your loving heart be filled with wonder and wisdom, illuminated thoughts for this very moment of NOW. Thank you for this gift you have brought to us all. May all beings be blessed with peace and happiness. Thank you once again. Namaste.
Dear Patricia,
Thanks for a lovely website. We are co-writing a book about “rights of nature” in Swedish. We found a photo on your website of a “medicine wheel garden” that would fit into the book. Do you have any contact information to him? It is really urgent, since we are completing the design in the next few days. We would need his approval and a high-resolution original.
Warm regards,
Niklas Högberg and Ingrid Stiernström

Dear Niklas and Ingrid,
The medicine wheel garden was designed by herbalist Ginny Shannon of Newton, New Hampshire.
Source for the photo was http://exeterareagardenclub.com/.
You can try emailing them at for Ginny’s contact information.
Good luck.
Dear Patricia
I just want to thank you for your beautiful and soothing poem `Lets Dance` I think it is called, opening lines
What if it truly doesn’t matter what you do
but HOW you do whatever you do?
This was read out at the end of a mindfulness class and I find it so soothing, and it makes me ask myself why am I trying so many many different things when really as your poem says maybe as I am is enough ? Just accept myself as I am?
There is, as I have discovered, SO much stuff out there, so many views, techniques to get better at being a `better` person whatever that is. What works for some won`t work for everyone.
In this extremely challenging year for me I have come across friends with no stated spiritual beliefs who act just as kindly and lovingly as those who do!

I’m a wicked wicked man, who wasted his 1 life watching tv, playing video games, whoring around, smoking cigarettes, and daydreaming. Being lazy, and talking a lot. Is there a God or great spirit that will forgive me? Is there an afterlife not spent in torment?
Hi Pat, my name is William Owens, and The Invitation poem speaks to my Heart and Soul. May I quote it?
Hi William,
I didn’t write The Invitation. It was written by Oriah and appears extensively online on different websites. I don’t speak for Oriah, but I honestly don’t think she would mind if you quote the poem so long as you give her proper credit. You can contact her at her website: http://www.oriahmountaindreamer.com/
Peace and blessings,
Patricia
Hi Will,
I didn’t write the poem. You would have to contact the author, Oriah Mountain Dreamer, for permission. Her website is http://www.oriahmountaindreamer.com/.
Peace and blessings.
