Pansies sit in trim array
‘Neath elm trees cool and shady
And dream the afternoon away,—
Each one a dear old lady.
Lilics-of-the-valley ring
Fragrant snow-white bells
To wake sleepy buds that bring
Wild flowers to the dells.
Colored cups the tulips hold
To catch the morning dew;
Daffodils reflect the gold
Of sunshine all day thru.
The grass is dotted all around
With yellow dandelion;
A butterfly flutters down
To kiss a columbine.
Spring has brought her youth again
To every nook and sod.
Golden days— . . . silver rain
And a glimpse of God!
